I missed this bike on my “looking at today’s models” post. I’m gonna make up for that.
My second-most popular post is a roundup of factory Klunkers and Klunker-adjacent bikes, which I posted last year. (My first is my Haro Klunkerson review, which is undoubtably how you found this site.)
But I missed a bike. And I’m not sure how. It’s the Sully Klunker Bike, from Retrospec. Now, to be absolutely clear, I have not ridden this ride or even seen it in person. But I wanted to give it a shout-out, lest I be accused by the some 150 people who visit this site every month of playing favourites.
So here goes. (All pics from the Retrospec website, hope that’s OK my dudes.)

| FRAME | Klunker-style, high-tensile steel. 2 sets bottle mounts, 2 sets rear carrier mounts, 18″ | GRIPS | Retrospec 125mm w/end plugs |
| CRANKSET | Aluminum 170mm x 42T w/aluminum chainwheel guard | SADDLE | Retrospec Tuck ‘n Roll, black |
| FREEWHEEL/ CASSETTE | 22T | KICKSTAND | Center-mount, aluminum |
| RIMS | Retrospec aluminum double-wall 32H, precision machined brake tracks | STEM | Aluminum 4-bolt face, threadless, 50mm, 22.2 handlebar clamp |
| TIRES | 27.5 x 2.30 Multi-Purpose small-block knobs | PEDALS | Low-Profile Platform, Reinforced Nylon resin, 9/16″ |
| HANDLEBARS | Moto-style high-tensile steel, 750mm width x 140mm rise | HUBS | Aluminum, ball-bearing 32H bolt-on |
My goal is not to evaluate the bike’s quality or ride. I haven’t held one in my hands. I’m just gonna think some thoughts.
First off, the price is right. Listed on its US-based website for $299, and selling in Canada for about $100 to $150 more than that CAD, it’s one of the cheapest Klunkers I’ve seen. Which is very Klunker-esque.
And I appreciate the product description on the website. It tells the same story that got me to buy the Haro Klunkerson: this is the bike you wanted as a kid; this is the freewheeling, all-fun vibe you need now. Yep. It really is.
I love the bike’s moto-style handlebars and 27.5″ tires—and the 42/22 gearing is on-point. The saddle looks super comfy too, without being a grandpappy-saddle. And they even tossed on a rear-rim brake, which is more than State did.
But with low prices come compromises. The nylon pedals. The ugly plastic chain-guard. High-tensile steel (rather than sturdier chro-mo).
No deal breakers here, though. All in it’s a fine package. I actually like the handlebars better than my Haro!
It comes in three colours, and even has two bottle mounts and two rear-carrier mounts—meaning this thing is likely gunning for the beach cruiser crowd as much as the hardcore Klunkers among us.
Nice work, Retrospec. I hope to see one in the wild soon.

So, you’re not a fan of the Sully then?
“NOPE!” 👎 Klunker D. do you or anyone out there have away to on your screen have a way to blow up the image of this bike? I do I’m working off my wife supplied I pad and has served me well from buying mistakes. The devil is always in the details. Look close at an image of the beige model that reveals the welds. They are horrible. The welds are one of the most if not the most important or foundation of any frame / strength/ integrity/ again would you fly on an aircraft built on the cheapest of three estimate’s? The penetration of the welds are very inconsistent.
I had to stop in the middle of the above comment / multi tasking. So I’ll finish up. The standard weight limitations or recommended limit is normally 300LBS. For production bikes in general. The Sully 250LBS. Just before I picked up where I left off did a little digging on this industrial disaster the best way I can put it. Look up the site Northofalpine . They are pushing this bike for 75.$ What was the Sully trying to mimic? Could it be the Walmart vision or wanna be Transition Klunker? What else is a touch of misleading info. Is the wheel size. Ok I looked it up from several different sites and the wheels are 26”. However the tire specs for this bike is printed as 27.5×2.35. So correct me if I’ wrong but if you have a bike with 27.5 wheels dose a tire for a rim/ wheel of this size have printed on the side wall 27.3 or wider but the size would start on the tire as 27x? What ever Width you choose. So the tire specs for the Sully should start with (26”) not (27”). My question is or maybe is Retrospect trying to make this bike more than it is to unload this ,this , thing? 🤔 What is this thing? The Sully looks so bad and not Badass I had to look up to see if it is still in production. The answer kind of sits in the gray the maybe maybe not (thing)🤔hum? This ,this, ? thing has been parked 💩🚴💩on the site for spell with no comment for good reason . Ok I’ll be nice it’s the best 75$ bike ever. It’s true.💩💩💩💩💩🤗 2025/San Fransisco stars parked where this bike belongs. The bike most likely never to be stolen👍💩💩pew pew. Ouch!
Probably someone out there is wondering after reading this above why I rave on a bout two bikes that are no longer in production that being the Transition Klunker and the WTB Avenger. When I was hunting down the Transition Klunker l called them to find the nearest dealer and the first comment or warning from the person who answered the phone commented it’s heavy. For what it is yes. Probably for that reason some people crying about that out here in a fluffy push button world slowed sales and for that reason we know how the rest goes. Is it a bad bike? No but it was built to race down hill not up. A tough bike a great bike. Know what your buying people all that crying put this spot on ride to the grave. Now for the WTB Avenger Klunker cruiser the bike that was designed to do a little of every thing. Fantastic ride. Even the bike shop who ordered or located it for me and that wasn’t easy may I add were impressed with it. So why all the hype but so hard to get and listed as discontinued? I reached out to WTB to ask why this unique ride is no longer in production. At the bottom of the reply that made sense they wanted the answer kept confidential. So I’ll be vague. The target of marketing mostly. The Avenger has popped up in limited numbers from time to time. This last model they knocked out of the park with a msrp of a thousand and some change this is just my opinion they never made money on this bike it was created as a promotional product and not for production. It might surface again you never know. The whole point is when a product is stopped it’s not always because it’s a failure. However with the Sully look at the facts it’s not quite what it’s made out to be.
